Academic Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate (B.S.) degree from an accredited institution in engineering or STEM.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for the last two years.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude with mathematics training up to Calculus II or beyond.

Applicants must also satisfy all of the UConn Graduate School admission requirements. The Master of Engineering program does NOT require GRE for admission; however, students have the option to send scores if they have taken the examination.


Application Deadlines

  • Admission and support offers will be made on a rolling basis. For fullest consideration for the Spring 2020 Semester, please complete your application by December 1, 2019.

Application Requirements  

  • Application – Apply – (Please select Engineering (MENG) as “Field of Study and Degree”)
  • Transcripts – Have “Official Transcript” sent directly to Graduate School
  • Resume – submit an updated resume and include GPA for all degrees received.
  • Personal Statement – Provide a 3-5 page personal statement explaining how you meet the qualities we are seeking.
    • Tech Quality.
    • Technical Skills.
    • Personal Qualities.
    • Relocation Potential.
  • Residence Affidavit – Upload within application and send directly to Graduate School (not required for international students).
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation – Online submission procedure within application process
    • Letters should be from faculty at previous institution and/or current supervisor or manager.
    • Letters should address the following:
      • How long and in what capacity have you known the applicant?
      • What is the applicant’s capacity for innovation, creativity, and collaboration? Provide specific examples if possible.
      • Assess the applicant’s technical (STEM) foundation and skills. Provide specific examples if possible.
      • Why do you think this applicant would be a valuable addition to the entrepreneurial network of Connecticut?
  • Proof of English Proficiency (international applicants only)


The application fee is $75 and must be paid online with a credit card.

Checking the Status of Your Application
To check the status of your application at any point, please refer to the Status Checking page.  If your application is declined, applicants may still apply as non-degree for up to two courses, receive a grade of a B or better in each class, and subsequently request review from the CDEE office for the opportunity to matriculate into the program.
